Although we know that foreign chemicals in the aquatic environment influence on fish health parameters, it has so far been difficult to establish cause/effects-relationships, to relate disease symptoms in fish to specific pollutants and chemicals etc.The aim of the project is to develope methods and obtain results based on which we will be able to: test and monitor the aquatic environment concerning genotoxic compounds; through exposure experiments test the genotoxic effects of specific chemicals or complex compounds occuring in effluents from industries, cities etc.; test for and define the biological effects in s.c."hot spots" like recipient areas, dumping areas etc.; utilize certain macroscopical symptoms on fish liver for evaluating the biological quality of a water area
